GOLF

The Algarve has become synonymous with golf and there are now nearly 30 courses within an hours drive of Casa Helandria. Many more are in the planning stage. The courses at Val do Lobo ( Royal and Ocean ), Quinta da Lago (South and North ), Pinheiros Altos and San Lorenzo are all within a 5 minute drive. The 5 courses at Vilamoura (Old , Pinhal , Laguna , Millennium and Victoria ) are twenty minutes drive as is the Vila Sol course.

East of Faro there have been some interesting developments and the two courses at Quinta de Cima and Quinta da Rio are particularly enjoyable. With the motorway now extending into Spain the two courses just over the border are less than an hours drive away (Isla Canela ,Istantilla)

Headline green fees on the Algarve vary from €40 to €150, however hardly anyone pays these prices. All the courses give discounts to holiday companies, timeshares and hotels. Our guests too can enjoy these discounts by using the services of a golf "broker" such as Links Golf who can often give up to 50% discount as well as being able to arrange tee times.

Golf is at its busiest from February to May and September to November. Outside these periods the courses are often very quiet and the green fees are reduced as well.

TENNIS

The Val do Lobo Tennis Academy is just a few minutes drive away from Casa Helandria. Guests can hire courts by the hour or take part in group coaching sessions.

HORSERIDING

If you're a keen rider, then you'll love horse riding in the Algarve. The region has a proud tradition of equestrian excellence and the riding centres are happy to deal with anyone, from beginner upwards. There is a wonderful choice of countryside or seaside riding depending on your preference. Most places have English-speaking instructors and cater for all choices. Beginners can book an hour's ride and more seasoned riders can enjoy a half- or full-day hack.
